-Key chains
-Chop sticks (one per player)
-String
-Paper Clips
-Table
Note:
Original directions called for keys, not key chains. We used cheep plastic key chains and took of the big ring, leaving the smaller metal ring on the end. It worked very well.
Set up:
Two teams of five. About 8" of string was tied to each chop stick. A paper clip was tied to the other end and opened up to make a "hook." Key chains were lined along the two long sides of the table with the ring end sticking of the table a little bit. We used 22 key chains (11 per side). About 5' away from each end of the table, we placed a bucket. The chop stick "fish poles" were laid on each end of the end of the table (five per side), with the string dangling off. This wasn't crucial, but it did stop the strings from tangling, which was good.
To Play:
Each team lined up behind their bucket. Each team was assigned one side of the table. One player from each team had to run to the table, grab a fishing pole, and put it in their mouth. Without using their hands, the player had to "catch" one of the rings on the hook and bring it over to their bucket. Once reaching the bucket, the player was allowed to take the key chain off the hook with their hands, drop it in the bucket, and tag the next player. If the key chain fell at any point along the way, the player would have to pick it up again without their hands, using the hook. Once a player had a fishing pole, it was theirs and they kept it for the rest of the game (especially since they put it in their mouth). The team that emptied their side of the table first, won.
Conclusion:
This game took a little longer than we expected. It probably took about 15 minutes, if not more, for a team to clear their side. The teams were pretty evenly matched, and it was easy for one team to loose even a three point lead. One person would tend to get stuck for a couple minutes. The winning key chain had been a close race. The teens liked this game and asked to play it again. We set it up with 5 rings on either side for a faster round and the other team won.
